Proposal: Brand Strategy Sprint for Comet Labs
Prepared for: Kiran Deol, Comet Labs
Prepared by: Christopher Costuna
Budget: $6,000 AUD fixed fee
Timing: 2–3 weeks
Kickoff: 29 July
1) Context
Comet Labs is building a platform for health innovators across investment, education, advisory and community.
The original proposal covered a broader brand strategy engagement. This version is a tighter first phase, shaped around the available $6,000 AUD budget.
The focus is on the work that will create the most immediate value: clarifying the Comet Labs story, sharpening the VC narrative, and giving the website and early conversations a stronger strategic spine.
2) What this sprint is designed to do
By the end of the sprint, Comet Labs will have:
- A clearer positioning for the brand.
- A sharper answer to why this VC, why now, and why Kiran / Comet Labs.
- Core messages for priority audiences.
- Clearer language for the main Comet Labs pillars.
- Directional copy guidance for the MVP website.
3) Scope
A) Discovery session
One focused strategy session with Kiran to work through:
- The ambition for Comet Labs
- The role of the VC pillar
- The audience priorities
- Existing proof points
- The story that needs to land first
B) Positioning and narrative
A clear strategic narrative covering:
- Comet Labs’ point of view
- Its role in the health innovation ecosystem
- The VC-facing story
- Why Comet Labs is credible now
- How the investment, education, advisory and community pillars connect
C) Audience messaging
A practical messaging framework for the priority audiences, likely including:
- Investors / LPs
- Health innovation founders
- Clinicians and researchers
- Strategic partners
For each audience, I’ll define what they need to believe, what Comet Labs needs to say, and the proof points that support the story.
D) Core messaging assets
A small set of useful, reusable messaging assets:
- Short introduction
- 30-second conversation pitch
- 2–3 minute investor narrative
- Short descriptions for each Comet Labs pillar
E) MVP website direction
Directional copy and structure guidance for:
- Homepage
- About page
- Pillar introductions
This is not full website copywriting. It is the strategic copy direction needed to make the site sharper and easier to build from.
4) Deliverables
- Brand Strategy Sprint document
- VC-facing narrative
- Messaging framework
- MVP website copy direction
- Playback session
Positioning, narrative, audience messaging and core language.
A clear version of the investment story.
Priority audience messages and proof points.
Homepage, About and pillar guidance.
One review session to walk through the work and agree next steps.
5) Ways of working
- One kickoff / strategy session
- Shared working document
- One check-in if needed
- One playback session
- One consolidated round of refinement
6) Investment
Fixed fee: $6,000 AUD
Payment terms:
- 50% deposit to commence
- 50% on delivery
Any extra work beyond this sprint can be scoped separately.
7) What’s changed from the original proposal
This version keeps the strategic core, but removes the broader implementation and brand system work.
Included
- Discovery session
- Core positioning
- VC narrative
- Audience messaging
- Pitch / intro language
- MVP website direction
- Playback session
- One refinement round
Omitted or deferred
- Full Brand Strategy Playbook
- Full website copy
- Detailed competitor / landscape scan
- Full offer architecture
- Full tone of voice system
- Production-ready brand guidelines
- Visual identity work
- Deck design
- LinkedIn / content planning
- Extended workshop design or facilitation
8) Workshop opportunity
The 2-day Health Sciences branding workshop is interesting and worth exploring.
I’d suggest keeping it separate from this sprint so we can define it properly: audience, offer, roles, commercial model and value exchange.
That keeps the brand work clean, and gives the workshop idea enough room to become something useful in its own right.
9) Next step
If this scope feels right, the next step is to confirm the engagement, issue a short engagement letter, and lock in the 29 July kickoff.
